Joel's Run 4 Refugees
Story
Hello friends!
This veloceraptor right here will be unleashed on October 18th to complete the 10km run in the Melbourne Marathon event. Please note the reputational toll this has on me for both my horrid running technique and lack of fitness. Why be such a fool, you wonder?
WELL - the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre is a big part of my life and you can make it part of yours too by supporting us in raising vital funds to support, empower and protect people seeking asylum in our community.
Unfortunately our political climate has led to many people seeking asylum facing a situation of severe poverty, some without the right to work, many without any income support, few with access to legal assistance that could mean the difference between a life of safety here or risk of death in their countries of origin. The ASRC faciliates over 30 programs with people seeking asylum including food aid, legal services, education and employment, and advocacy and community education.
Thanks to the incredible group of over 1,100 volunteers, every dollar that is donated equates to $20 in services to our members. Please give generously!
Muchas gracias amigos!

Activity
ASRC Footscray (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre)
The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is both a place and a movement.
As an independent not for profit organisation, we are owned and run by our community. Our programs empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well-being. As a movement, we mobilise and unite communities to create lasting social and policy change for people seeking asylum in Australia.
We assist over 7,000 people seeking asylum each year from our centres in Footscray and Dandenong, Victoria.
